CrossFit Napalm – Let’s kick cancer in the ass!
When the members of CrossFit Napalm first heard about Battle Cancer 2017, it was a no-brainer! We knew we wanted to get involved and compete. The opportunity to throw down with the CrossFit community while raising money and awareness for cancer charities – what wasn’t to love?!
Charitable competitions highlight the community and solidarity among the CrossFit family – and Battle Cancer certainly displayed this. More than 40 Napalm members, both spectators and competitors, stood together to raise more than £4,000 for Bowel Cancer UK.

Bowel cancer has affected many of our members’ families so it felt right to choose Bowel Cancer UK as our nominated charity. We competed in memory of Cara’s mum, Pauline; Jodie’s mum, Lynne; and Ruth’s dad, John. Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, so every penny raised helps the charity to further its research into this cruel disease.
So, in true Napalm style, we rocked up and hit the competition like we do every wod – HARD and FUN! We wanted to raise as much money as possible, so we set up several fundraising events throughout the year. They included;
- Napalm Lift-Off Competition
- Clean Up Cancer – cleaning 41,000kg to represent each of the 41,000 people diagnosed with bowel cancer every year
- Ski, Bike and Row the distance of Mount Everest and back (on each machine!)
- Napalm Girls v CrossFit Girls – All girl team taking on back to back Crossfit girls Wods!
- Fancy Dress Partner Wod
We also had amazing support from 8Ball clothing which donated more than £700 of personalised vests and t-shirts for our teams. These were emblazoned with our innuendo-based team names. Anyone who knows Napalm will know that we LOVE a risqué team name!
The competition itself was a great event; great Wods, great atmosphere and a great set-up. It was a challenging and emotional day for some, but to be part of something so big and to collectively raise so much money for cancer charities across the UK, is something that our box is very proud of.
